This information and directory system, dedicated to the car design, contains articles on the history, styles and trends in automotive design, features reviews and photos of the majority of modern concept cars and most eminent examples of car style, tells about the world-best car design studios and their works, lists the biographies of famous designers. The system needs a well-developed search engine and the option of selecting the articles by keywords, discussion groups dedicated to automotive design topics.
The site design has a pronounced block character. The top block contains the logo and illustration element dedicated to the car design, displayed randomly. Below is the service block with advertising and search form, navigation trough main sections, done in bookmark style. The page content block is given in two columns, the left one containing the links to other site materials, the right one - informational article. The bottom of the page is made up by the block with legal information and feedback link.
Business logic of the site is created in the basis of two data entities - "the car" and "the article". Each of them belongs to one of the seven site sections and contains photos and links to other entities. In this way it is possible to represent the information according to the reference book principle: due to the efficient navigation the user finds the article best suited to his requirements and from it can transfer to any other data entities related in any way to the initial one. For example, if you choose all Ford concept cars produced in 1999 you can go to Ford Thunderbird and, having learned that this car was first shown at NAIAS car show in 1999, go to the rest of the cars displayed at that show or open other Ford cars, in other site sections.
In order to attract the users’ attention to the new information on the site, the entrance to each section first displays what is new in this section. It is also possible to discuss the articles and cars in the forum and get the printable versions of the documents.
